Mahanakhon is an iconic 985 ft (300 m) tall high end residential tower in Bangkok, clad primarily in glass. The project was designed by OMA and Buro Ole Scheeren. The “pixelation” of the main tower facade creates interesting internal spaces whilst at the same time helping to modulate the scale of this large building in the urban context. The typically monolithic generic nature of such tall buildings is reduced whilst providing an enhanced visual connection to the fabric of the city. The project features a number of signature interior designs that are integrated with the overall architecture of the project.

Front helped to develop a number of key façade systems in a way that fully achieved the architectural design intent. The architectural language of the building called for sharp and neat systematic transitions from glazed cladding to metal cladding, from wall cladding to soffit cladding, and from exterior balconies to interior solids.Front supported the architects with an iterative design investigation and documentation process that produced tender information which was achievable both within the capabilities of the local façade industry and the budget established by the owner for the project. Front supported the project team with a highly detailed pre-tender façade cost validation exercise that centered on project-specific quantity and delivery confirmations with a number of potential local tenderers. Many options for glazing performance and appearance were explored with regional suppliers to find the optimum visual configuration for the project prior to tender. Front brought significant value to the successful realization of this spectacular project.
