This extremely transparent 6-story office building features a narrow floor plate, organized around a large central courtyard, and single and double story floating connecting bridges between the two wings. The courtyard, along with the low-iron glass façade creates bright interior work environments that celebrate layers of reflectivity and light. The 80,700 ft2 (7,500 m2) facility is one of many architecturally innovative buildings on the environmentally responsible Novartis Global Headquarters campus in Basal. Front consulted on the entire enclosure during schematic design and design development phases. The energy efficient façade design beats Swiss energy code and allows for 100% fresh air ventilation by subtly incorporating perimeter fan coils in a horizontal strip between stacked floor-to-ceiling triple-insulated glass panels with integrated motorized blinds.
