This project reimagines the current San Pellegrino bottling plant and office headquarters, wrapping the complex with a continuous, unifying pergola. Located in picturesque San Pellegrino Terme since 1899, the scenic surroundings of northern Italy ensconse the 188,400ft2 (17,500m2) complex. The new design references traditional Italian architecture while it revitalizes the riverside arcade, and adds a piazza and portico to create a comprehensive unit.
Front will be working alongside BIG to achieve dynamic façade systems and deliver high performance facades for both the office buildings and the Experience Lab. The office building re-cladding consists of a unitized, aluminum framed, insulated glass curtain wall. While the Experience Lab facade includes both translucent and vision glass vertical walls, composed of a unitized insulated glass window wall infill between concrete frames. The unitized aluminum frames are recessed at the concrete walls with frameless intermediate glass joints.
Special consideration was given to fully support strict local code requirements governing façade energy performance. Insulating glass with solar control low-e coatings, thermally broken arch assemblies throughout the entire enclosure, and some supplemental exterior shading will need to be employed. Optimization of the systems design, shading design, material selection, and detailing will be analyzed to ensure compliance with the façade energy performance requirements while staying true to the monolithic arch and glass infill design intent.
