This new 800 ft2 (75 m2) glass enclosure, on the west side of the existing Columbia School of Journalism student center, provides additional study area and café space. The design features a large 8 x 18 ft (2.4 x 5.5 m) steel-framed laminated glass operable wall, which allows the space to open to the outdoors. Perforated stamped aluminum shading panels are installed just below the low-sloped glass skylight system, protecting the café area from direct sunlight.  Front consulted on the glass enclosure systems and the interior light diffusing panels from schematic design through construction administration.
