Wardwalk is a 428 ft (130 m) long, ribbon-like, light and art installation that marks a pedestrian route linking the east and west sides of Lower Manhattan through the Battery Parking Garage. This ribbon structure is composed of a series of aluminum angles with reflective tape, which are fastened to a tensile cable support system at the west garage and fastened to rigid ‘Unistrut’ channels at the east garage. Front provided design and engineering services during schematic design and design development, and completed the project as design-supply, which required the comprehensive system design to be fully resolved to a high level of detail, and the completion of structural calculations, shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
