592 Fifth Avenue / 2019

ArchitectTange Associates and Yoshihara McKee Architects

592 Fifth Avenue features a premium retail storefront in addition to its 11 stories of office space situated on a busy corner of midtown Manhattan. The restoration involved replacing the building’s deteriorated marble facade with a metal panel rain screen system and an intricate lattice of accent aluminum fins and exterior lighting.
This full re-clad project features a double height steel storefront system, with a ventilated aluminum rain screen system above. The owner required that the project be constructed without granting access to interior spaces above the third floor, which presented a series of unique challenges in an already restricted space between the lot line and existing structure. This required the design of a narrow steel exoskeleton which was concealed by the aluminum paneling, and supported a complex network of linear lights. Front utilized 2D AutoCAD work to meet the needs of the project and the building owner.
