Smith Neilson Library / 2021

ArchitectMaya Lin Studio

Executive ArchitectShepley Bulfinch

The master plan of the project was to transform historic Neilson Library which first opened its doors in 1909 and went through several expansions incrementally into a place for contemporary learning. Designed by Maya Lin Studio and Bialosky and Partners along with Shepley Bulfinch as the executive architects, this renovation project also adds two jewel boxes that sit next to the historical building and fills the space with daylight to facilitate modernization of the institution.

Front collaborated closely with both design architect and executive architect from Schematic Design through Construction Administration for the curved timber glazing system of the two Jewel boxes along with the glazing systems for the sunken plazas. The project was recently completed earlier this winter.
